Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl and Alderman Ann Rainey (8th Ward) publically thanked Best Buy on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 for their generous donation of about $10,000 worth of appliances for the City of Evanston’s redevelopment project at 631 Howard St. The media availability was held at Best Buy’s Evanston location at 2301 Howard St.

And now, the same store is donating appliances for our affordable housing units on Howard Street.” More>>>

School’s almost out for summer, and kids in Evanston may actually look forward to their next encounter with the “heat” this summer, thanks to 7-Eleven® stores’ popular Operation Chill program that rewards positive behavior with a very cool treat. Through Operation Chill®, law enforcement officers from participating local police and sheriff’s departments can “ticket” youngsters caught in the act of doing good with Slurpee® beverage coupons. Appropriate “actions” might include helping another person, deterring crime or participating in a positive activity in the community. Each coupon can be redeemed for a small Slurpee® drink at participating 7-Eleven stores. More>>>

"To have such a great weekend and have executed our game plan and done so well all over the field, I'm just really proud of what these girls have done," said Head Coach Kelly Amonte Hiller, who has now been part of nine NCAA championships in her playing and coaching career. "As a coach, you can try to encourage and inspire, but it's the girls that do it on the field, and they were determined and they were really on a mission."
