DEP TO HOST PUBLIC MEETINGS REGARDING NUMERIC NUTRIENT CRITERIA
~Public encouraged to offer input on proposed draft rule~
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection will hold two formal public meetings to present its proposed draft rule and receive public comments on possible revisions to Chapters 62-302 and 62-303, F.A.C., regarding numeric nutrient standards for Florida’s surface waters.
Florida has made a significant investment spanning more than a decade studying and collecting data regarding nutrients in Florida’s unique aquatic ecosystems, and has used this science to develop a draft numeric criteria rule for the state of Florida. These workshops are being held as part of this open and transparent rule development process and are a continuation of the state’s commitment to the development the best rule to address nutrients in the state’s surface waters. Public input is strongly encouraged and the public is invited to attend.
