DEP HOSTS PUBLIC MEETING TO DISCUSS DRAFT WEKIVA RIVER RESTORATION PLAN
~Meeting to offer restoration plan overview and opportunity for comments and recommendations~
TALLAHASSEE - The Florida Department of Environmental will host a public meeting to give stakeholders an opportunity to comment and provide feedback on the Wekiva River and Rock Springs Run draft restoration plan, called a basin management action plan.
The meeting will cover an overview of the plan's development process as well as key elements of the draft restoration plan.
A BMAP is a blueprint for restoring impaired waters by reducing pollutant loadings so that systems will meet water quality standards and support healthy biological communities. These broad-based plans are developed collaboratively with local stakeholders and rely on local input and local commitment.
The plan assigns responsibilities to stakeholders, the projects to be developed during the first five-year period and a monitoring plan to track improvements in water quality.
