A new friends group will help with park enhancements and provide free visits, newsletters and special event opportunities.

FLAGLER BEACH – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Gamble Rogers Memorial State Recreation Area at Flagler Beach and North Peninsula State Park will now be supported by a newly formed citizen support organization, the Friends of Gamble Rogers State Park.

The mission of the Friends is to support the two parks through fundraising, community involvement, educational outreach and enhancements to park resources. The organization, officially formed on May 11, is now accepting new members.

If you enjoy attending the parks' much-loved programs, camping in the oceanfront campground or simply visiting to walk the beach, fish or hike, you are invited to continue in your support of the park by joining the Friends group. Members will receive 12 free visits per year, newsletters and invitations to special friends-only events. In addition to these benefits, 100 percent of membership dues will go to supporting the park’s resources and facilities.

You can join in person at the ranger station or online at the Friend’s website at www.friendsofgamblerogersstatepark.com.
