ADVENTURE YACHT HARBOR LATEST ADDITION TO CLEAN MARINA PROGRAM
~Adventure Yacht Harbor becomes 259th clean marina statewide, 15th in Volusia County~
PORT ORANGE – The Florida Department of
Environmental Protection’s Clean Marina Program
is proud to designate Adventure Yacht Harbor as the Department’ s
259th Clean Marina in the state, the 46th in the Central District,
and 15th in Volusia County. Adventure Yacht Harbor has
demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship through implementing
best management practices at its facility, which is nestled in a protected harbor on the
Halifax River, part of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.
“The Department applauds the efforts of Adventure Yacht Harbor
to implement best practices that will help set them apart from other marinas,”
said Central District Director Jeff Prather. “We’re proud to add them to
the exclusive group of marinas who are taking steps to protect one of Florida’s
most valuable resources.”
The Clean Marina Program recognizes
marinas, boatyards and retailers for their commitment to the protection of
Florida’s waterways and natural resources. In addition to Clean Marinas, the program consists
of 38 Clean Boatyards and 17 Clean
Retailers as of September 21, 2012.
“We recognize
the importance of taking care of our natural resources, and the Clean Marina
program made it easy for us,” said Sheryl and Charlie Roach of Adventure Yacht
Harbor. “We’re proud to do our part.”
Florida’s Clean Marina Program offers marinas significantly increased exposure as a good environmental facility,
assistance with installing pumpout facilities, as well as access to technical
assistance from the Florida Sea Grant, United States Coast Guard Program
(USCG), USCG Sea Partners, USCG Auxiliary, Marina Mentors from other designated
Clean Marinas, the Clean
Boating Partnership and staff from the Florida Clean Marina Program before, during and after the designation
process.
