DEP, SWIX TO HOST MEDICINE COLLECTION EVENT IN TALLAHASSEE

~Properly disposing of unused prescriptions helps protect the environment~


TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Division of Waste Management and Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc.is hosting a free medicine collection event -- "Operation Medicine Cabinet,” at Costco on Saturday, Oct. 6.
The collection event is designed to collect unused and expired prescriptions in order to properly dispose of them and help prevent misuse and protect the environment and water supplies. Medications not properly disposed, such as flushing them down the toilet, can cause contamination to Florida’s aquatic environment.
