DEP TO DESIGNATE PILOT HOUSE MARINA UNDER CLEAN MARINA PROGRAM
~Program recognizes clean marinas that implement environmental measures designed to protect Florida’s waterways~
KEY LARGO - The Florida Department of Environmental Protection Office of Sustainable Initiatives’ Clean Marina program will present the Clean Marina plaque and flag during the designation ceremony of Pilot House Marina as Florida’s 162nd Clean Marina on Wednesday, Aug. 8 in Key Largo.
Representatives invited from the business community include United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Key Largo Chamber of Commerce and county commissioners.
The Department’s Clean Marina program is designed to bring awareness to marine facilities and boaters about environmentally friendly practices.
The Clean Marina program recognizes marinas, boatyards and retailers for demonstrating a commitment to environmental stewardship by initiating best management practices and offering a pumpout service for boaters. In addition to Clean Marinas, the program consists of 39 Clean Boatyards and 17 Clean Retailers as of July 27, 2012.
