TALLAHASSEE – With Valentine’s Day just a few days away, the Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service offers suggestions for a memorable day with that special someone. Florida’s 160 state parks and greenways and trails provide affordable, romantic, fun and close-to-home activities that any budget will love.
"Whether on a first date or celebrating of a lifetime love, Florida State Parks offer an abundance of activities and events to make everyone’s Valentine’s Day extra special this year," said DEP's Florida Park Service Director Donald V. Forgione. "I encourage you to start a new tradition by spending Valentine's Day surrounded by Florida's natural and cultural resources, as well as your Valentine."
While state parks and trails provide a perfect setting for an intimate picnic or a casual walk, there are also some events scheduled through next week that would make for an exceptional Valentine’s Day. Moonlight concerts will be held tonight at Myakka River and The Barnacle Historic state parks, while a special Valentine’s Cruise and Dinner will be held tomorrow night at Edward Ball Wakulla Springs State Park. Visit the events page on the Florida Online Park Guide for more events.
