The mission of the Mayor’s Office on African Affairs (OAA) is to ensure that the full range of health, education, employment, social services, safety, business and economic development information, services and opportunities are accessible to the District’s African immigrant communities. 

By serving as the liaison between the District’s African immigrant communities, District government agencies and the Mayor, OAA aims to:  Improve the quality of life of the District’s diverse African born constituencies and their children; Increase civic and public engagement in the District’s African immigrant communities; and Support community development.

About 70 participants, mostly community- and faith-based organization representatives, attended the informational session on eligibility criteria and funding priorities. Mayor Gray Appoints Kristy M. Greenwalt Executive Director of the Interagency Council on Homelessness

Mayor Vincent C. Gray announced today that he has selected Kristy M. Greenwalt to serve as the Executive Director of the Interagency Council on Homelessness (ICH). Ms. Greenwalt was selected after an exhaustive national search and will officially start the new position on April 28. “Kristy Greenwalt brings over 15 years of experience in housing policy and community development to our efforts to end homelessness in the District,” said Mayor Gray. “We have found a transformative leader with a strong understanding of the regulatory, local and national variables that contribute to successful outcomes for vulnerable populations.”

The Divine Comedy Revisited by African Artists: Featuring Julie Mehretu & Aida Muluneh

The Museum of Modern Art (MMK) in Frankfurt, Germany is currently hosting an exhibition featuring several contemporary African artists including Ethiopian-American painter Julie Mehretu and Ethiopian photographer Aïda Muluneh. Department of Justice announces funding to provide services to victims of human trafficking in two different program areas: 1) comprehensive services for all victims of human trafficking, and 2) specialized services for victims of human trafficking. The information included on DC Health Search was provided by each site, and has not been independently confirmed by the Department of Health.   • Provide primary medical care; and
  • Accept Medicaid for patient insurance; and

Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (Recovery Act), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is authorized to make incentive payments to eligible professionals and eligible hospitals demonstrating meaningful use of certified Electronic Health Recording (EHR) technology. The Road to a Global DC: 10 Years of Language Access & Immigrant Inclusion

The DC Office of Human Rights (OHR) invites you to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Language Access Act and the contributions of immigrants to the District at "The Road to a Global DC" event on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. The event will feature the release of an OHR-commissioned report by the Urban Institute, which analyzes how language access has helped limited and non-English proficient residents, and looks at the changing demographics of the District. The report release will be followed by a panel discussion on immigrant inclusion, and a reception.        Join government officials, policy makers, researchers and community advocates for this exciting event in the beautiful Carnegie Library at Mt. Vernon Square.

29th Annual Mayor's Arts Awards - Call for Producer

This Statement of Work is between Events Producer (hereinafter called Producer) and DC Commission On The Arts & Humanities (hereinafter called DCCAH), for the purpose of complete production services for the 29th Annual Mayor’s Arts Awards (MAA), scheduled for the Fall of 2014. The Mayor’s Arts Awards are the most prestigious honors conferred by the city on individual artists, organizations and patrons of the arts. Mayor’s Arts Awards are presented in the following categories: Outstanding Contribution to Arts Education, Excellence in an Artistic Discipline, Outstanding Emerging Artist, Innovation in the Arts and Outstanding Service to the Arts. In addition, Mayor’s Arts Awards for Teaching are presented in Language Arts, Performing Arts and Visual Arts.
