Mission:

To advocate, plan, implement, and monitor programs in health, education, employment, and social services which promote longevity, independence, dignity and choice for our senior citizens. The Office on Aging also administers the Aging and Disability Resource Center, a one-stop shop resource center, designed to assist seniors, persons with disabilities 18 years of age and older, and family caregivers navigate the long-term services and supports system.

Pre-Application Conference

DCOA will hold a  Pre-Application Conference for the Senior Transportation Request for Applications (RFA) on Wednesday, March 6 at 10:30 am, 500 K Street, NE.  DCOA is  seeking an entity to operate the Washington Elderly Handicapped Transportation Program.  Find out more about the grant and have the opportunity to ask questions before the April 19 submission deadline.  For more information, contact Aurora Delespin-Jones, Program Analyst or Brenda L. Financial Fraud Presentation

The 2013 Senior Wellness Center Financial Fraud Prevention Presentations will begin Wednesday, March 6, 1-3 pm at Model Cities Senior Wellness Center, 1901 Evarts Street, NE.  Including panel presentations by the Department of Insurance Securities and Banking, US Attorney’s Office-DC and AARP Legal Counsel for the Elderly. Next Caregiver Chat at Noon

The next D.C. Caregiver Online Chat at Noon, Tuesday March 5 at 12 pm will discuss "Dealing with the Chronic Illness of a Spouse." Join in the discussion led by Linda Irizzary, MSW www.dcoa.dc.gov.  If you miss the chat, feel free to replay the session or view previous chats you may have missed.


DPR Listening Party

The Department of Parks and Recreation's Senior Radio Show invites you to the WDJE 49.1 Listening Party, Tuesday, March 5  10 am - 12 pm at Ben's Next Door, 1211 U Street, NW. Celebrate the launch of the first senior produced radio program.  The launch is free, but lunch is optional and should be paid in advance.  The fee for lunch is $25.00.
