Happy December, YGL-B!  Please join us as we get into the holiday and winter spirit this month with an excursion to see the National Christmas tree, and Holiday Gift Wrapping for charity.  We hope you have a safe and happy holiday season, and a very happy New Year! 


Hot Chocolate and the National Christmas Tree (12/13)

With the White House in the background, the National Christmas Tree and 56 smaller trees - decorated with unique ornaments from that state, territory or District of Columbia - we will savor a winter wonderland!  Join fellow members to celebrate the season and witness this DC holiday tradition!

When: Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 7:30 pm

Where: Meet at Caribou Coffee (1701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington DC) and we will head over to see the trees (click here for map).

Why: A great chance to get into the holiday spirit and see DC decked out for the season.

Cost: Holiday display is free, hot chocolate is up to you!

Holiday Gift Wrapping for Charity (12/19)

Get into the holiday spirit and give back to the community by joining us as we wrap presents to raise funds for two charities. 

When: Wednesday, December 19th, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Where: Second Floor of Montgomery Mall, Macy's corridor, open towards the food court. 

Why: We will be wrapping presents to raise funds for two wonderful charities – Friends of the Clinical Center and Special Love/Camp Fantastic! Friends of the Clinical Center  helps patients at the NIH Clinical Center get through financial emergencies due to their illness and treatment. Special Love/Camp Fantastic is an organization dedicated to help brighten the lives of kids with cancer by providing a wonderful camp and weekend retreats for children and their families.

Bio-Med Book Club Dinner Discussion (12/10)

Join the Bio-Med Book Club on December 10 to discuss The Emperor of All Maladies: A Biography of Cancer by Siddhartha Mukherjee.  Whether you’ve read the book or are just interested in the topic, come on out for what’s sure to be an interesting discussion!

When: Monday, December 10, 2012, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
