Hi YGL-B! We hope you had a relaxing Labor day! While you might be back to the grind, we hope you’ll join us in taking some time out, and giving back to the community this weekend!  Join us as we partner with Greater DC Cares in the 9/11 National Day of Service & Remembrance. You can still register and be part of our team. So YGL-B, let’s come together to lend a hand!


9/11 National Day of Service (9/8)

Looking for an opportunity to serve the community?  What better way than joining YGL members for the National Day of Service with HandsOn Greater DC Cares.  
When: Saturday, September 8, 2012, 9:00am - 1:00pm
Where: Our project will be with the National Park Service at the Frederick Douglass Historic Site. 1411 W St SE, Washington, D.C. 20020 (Nearest metro: Anacostia—see map)
What: Volunteers will paint a wrought iron fence to create a more presentable and defined space for residents to enjoy.
Why: To rekindle the spirit of service that emerged after the tragedy of September 11.
How: Register by clicking here and selecting "Join Our Team". Registration is free but donations are welcomed  to help cover supplies and programming costs for the day.

Happy Hour to Support the NIH Charities (9/20)

YGL-B will be partnering once again with Special Love and the Friends of the Clinical Center for a Fall fundraiser.  Come celebrate the season and catch up with your friends while supporting an important cause!  
When: Thursday, September 20, 2012, 5:00pm-7:00pm
Where: BlackFinn American Saloon, 4901 Fairmont Avenue Bethesda, MD 20814 (closest metro: Bethesda)  (Click here for a map)
Why: To have fun networking and socializing while supporting Friends of the Clinical Center and Special Love.
Cost: Tickets are $20 - includes appetizers, a raffle ticket (you can buy more) and your first draft beer or house wine; only $3 for additional drafts and house wine.  Tickets can be purchased in advance from R&W Stores and will be available the day of at the door.
RSVP: In an effort to engage members of YGL-Bethesda, we will now post RSVP information on the event website page. We hope this will assist in your decision to attend events and network with your government peers.  If you plan on attending, we kindly ask that you provide your name and agency on the form embedded on the event website page. After the event, this information will be removed from the website.

Bio-Med Book Club Dinner Discussion (10/8)

Join the Bio-Med Book Club on October 8 to discuss "The Wild Life of Our Bodies: Predators, Parasites, and Partners That Shape Who We Are Today" by Rob Dunn. Whether you’ve read the book or are just interested in the topic, come on out for what’s sure to be an interesting discussion!
