City of Los Angeles Mayor's Office
Hi, my name is Israel Rojas. As the Manager of City Affairs for YGL-LA, my goal is to get our local government superstars connected with YGL’s national network. YGL started in DC and is doing a good job training future federal leaders and I want to make sure we’re plugged into the pulse of our nation’s capitalI mean, Los Angeles is only the second largest city in America, and according to some recent studies, the third richest and fifth most powerful and influential city in the world. So yeah, I’d say we’re doing a few things right... Continue reading

Federal Executive Board and Young Government Leaders

I believe that it is not a coincidence that Federal Executive Boards (FEB) were started in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy, one of the Youngest Presidents of the United States, and almost 50 years later many FEBs have formed an alliance with Young Government Leaders.
Federal Executive Boards were created in 28 communities Nationwide to bring together the Federal agencies in a particular geographic area to work across agency lines on common issues along three main areas:  emergency preparedness & recovery, human capital development and intergovernmental and community outreach.  (www.feb.gov)
The two organizations have much in common – both are proponents of “Good Government”, both understand the importance of succession planning, both value the importance of building relationships and both are committed to professional development... Continue reading

HELP US GROW!

YGL-LA Recruitment Toolkit Coming Soon...

YGL-LA Johann

Director of Recruitment

Johann D'Agostino

Peace Corps

After spending a few days with a number of other young federal employees through the FEB's Leadership Associates Program, I can tell you firsthand that there is a great deal of interest in YGL. Some people know that they want something like YGL and that they want to be a member. Others want something like YGL, but either do not know we exist or are not really sure what we do. The Toolkit is intended to help us give these people the information they need, tap into their talents, and bring them in as active YGL members.
Thanks to all who input their information on the recruitment brainstorm, your stories and ideas are immensely helpful! Look for the Toolkit this August on our website.
