Project Happiness 2

Three New Subcommittees!!!

So stay tuned for upcoming events....

In the month of November, the Youth Commission created three new Subcommittees! All three new committees are open to the public, so be sure to read the sidebar to attend meetings.

Legislative Subcommittee

Formed to learn about the state legislative process, to vet and endorse bills, and to advise the County's Board of Supervisors, the Legislative Committee, made of eight Youth Commissioners, will meet in the beginning of January to start their important work.

Project Happiness

During the November Public Meeting, the Youth Commission had the honor of Randy Taran, founder of Project Happiness, come and present the initiative to the entire Commission. Inspired by the incredible work, and focus on Youth's happiness, this film will be shown at the Youth Conference, along with Randy! We are proud to officially endorse this Project, and along with seven Youth Commissioners look forward to spreading Happiness throughout the County.

Race to Nowhere

Prompted by the pressures put on students to succeed, and the stress that is incurred, SMCYC is preparing to host a screening of Race to Nowhere, with a Town Hall discussion to follow. Stay tuned for the viewing date!
