Fight the Bite!

fight the bite

Mosquitoes are one of the deadliest creatures on earth; they have the potential to spread many different viruses like West Nile, dengue, chikungunya and even Zika. Traditionally, San Diego sees a reduction in mosquito populations during the winter, but in recent years our mild winters have not provided the reductions we have seen in the past. By following these three simple steps year-round, you can help keep yourself, your family and your neighbors safe from mosquito borne diseases:

Prevent

Prevent mosquito breeding around your home by removing standing water in buckets, birdbaths, trash cans and flowerpot saucers at least once a week.

Protect

Protect against mosquito bites by using mosquito repellents and wearing long sleeves and pants outdoors.

Report

Report mosquito breeding sites like green swimming pools and other standing water in your neighborhood to vector control at (858) 694-2888.
