Work continues on the east side of Storke Road.
During the week (Monday-Thursday), crews will be working day and night shifts
to shorten the duration of the inconvenience to motorists, cyclists and
pedestrians. On Fridays, crews will only work the day shift.
In the coming weeks, you can expect some significant impacts
with these three activities:
·
On Tuesday, August 11, the signal on
Hollister Avenue at South Glen Annie will be energized. Temporary
striping work will occur starting at 10pm. Signal work
will occur between 8am and 5pm. Expect lane closures and delays as this occurs.
·
On Monday, August 17, the intersection of Hollister Avenue and
Storke Road will go dark as power is moved into the reconfigured signal
islands. This work will occur between the hours of 7pm and 7am. The
signals will be turned off completely and will come back on
in stages as the necessary steps are completed. Additional lighting and
signage will be in place. Please avoid this intersection if possible during the outage.
·
Also during the week of August 17, Caltrans will be closing one
lane of the southbound Storke Road offramp and one
lane on the southbound bridge to make modifications to the pedestrian
ramps. Work may take two to four days. Please avoid southbound Storke
if possible during this work.
Please use Los Carneros or Cathedral Oaks/Hollister in order to
reduce the traffic volumes through the construction area.
There are six improvement projects planned for the
Storke/Hollister intersection. Some of these improvements are paid for through
by the developers through developer fees and others through the Goleta
Transportation Improvement Program (GTIP) fees. You can read more about
these projects here. The projects are being sequenced to
minimize the public impact and decrease the duration of the construction.
We appreciate your patience as we work to complete these needed
improvements.
