ALL SOULS NC Opera with New Music Raleigh in partnership with CAM Raleigh Monday, November 25 at 7:30pm
Local composer John Supko's All
Souls for soprano, chamber orchestra and electronic sampler is a setting of nine excerpts from the
novel All Souls Day by Dutch author Cees Nooteboom. Falling somewhere between
melodrama, radio play and opera, live and recorded voices bring to life the intense relationship between a
widowed documentary filmmaker and a beautiful, mysterious woman in Berlin in the late 1990s.

Rewarding Young
Readers
Even
though I’m no longer in the classroom, I still consider myself a teacher. In fact, one of the great joys of getting to do what I do is that I split my
time between writing books and visiting schools and libraries to work with
young people. I’m very fortunate that I’ve found a rewarding way to
continue teaching even as I write new books. It was a
tremendous honor this weekend to receive the Excellence in Teaching Award from
UNC-Chapel Hill’s School of Education.
