Cook Lake Recreational Area/Black Hills National Forest Closed for Public Safety

The Wyoming State Geological Survey (WSGS) today reported that for public safety the U.S. Forest Service has closed the Cook Lake Recreational Area in the Black Hills National Forest in Wyoming. The potential for landslides, as a result of saturated soils, prompted the agency to close the area until further notice. The Forest Service will continue to monitor the area for changing conditions, but noted that historic landslides in the area coupled with current conditions have resulted in the elevated risk.
