Governor Appoints New Eighth Judicial District Court Judge

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Matt Mead has selected Patrick Korell as the new District Court Judge for the Eighth Judicial District for Converse, Goshen, Niobrara and Platte Counties. Korell replaces Judge Keith Kautz who was recently appointed to the Wyoming Supreme Court.

Patrick is currently serving his fifth consecutive term as Goshen County and Prosecuting Attorney. He grew up on the family farm in the Torrington area and graduated from Lingle-Fort Laramie High School before receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney and his law degree from the University of Wyoming.

“I am confident Patrick will serve the people of the Eighth Judicial District well.  He has a wealth of courtroom experience and great dedication to the community, the judicial system, and public service,” Governor Mead said. “Patrick was raised in the district and has served as County Attorney for Goshen County since 1999.  He is highly regarded by law enforcement, fellow lawyers, and citizens who have repeatedly elected him to county office.”  

Prior to serving as County Attorney, Korell was in private practice. He serves as President of the Eastern Wyoming College Foundation Board of Directors and is a longtime member of the Foundation.  He serves on the Goshen County Crime Victims Board of Directors and was President of the Wyoming State Bar from 2013-2014.

“I am deeply honored, grateful and humbled by Governor Mead’s selection. This appointment is a tremendous opportunity, and responsibility, to serve this community and the State of Wyoming. I will do my very best,” Korell said.
