Passing of a Guardsman

Gene T. Kyburz

PARDEEVILLE -- Gene T. Kyburz, age 71, of Pardeeville died on Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at Life Care Hospital in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.

Gene was born on October 1, 1942 in Burlington, Racine County, Wisconsin, the son of Orrin and Lauretta (Marck) Kyburz. At an early age he moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota, where he completed schooling. Gene returned to Wisconsin where he received a BA degree in business. He was particularly proud of a patent he was granted for one of the silicone products he produced. He married Pok Sun Nam “Penny” in Milwaukee on September 30, 1988. Gene owned and operated K-Sil, Inc., a silicone manufacturing company, which he later sold to Vesta, Inc. He loved his involvement with Car Shows, and enjoyed custom cars, hot rods, and just talking cars. Gene was very loyal and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He loved learning about history, especially reading about the civil war. He enjoyed his daughter’s sporting events and loved the Green Bay Packers. Gene was a member of the Portage Rotary Club since February 1, 1983. He loved music, especially his favorite, Roy Orbison. Gene served his country with the Wisconsin National Guard and was activated for Desert Storm. He retired from the Guard with the rank of Colonel.

He is survived by his wife, Penny Kyburz, Pardeeville; his daughter, Paige Kyburz, Pardeeville; his brother, Ronald (Mary) Kyburz, Gregory, SD; his best four-legged friend, Cholanee; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Portage. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at the funeral home. Burial, with military honors, will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
