Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) released a new Health & Safety Guide for K-12 Schools.
Still time to complete the opioid and overdose rescue preparedness survey
You can participate in Tacoma-Pierce County Opioid Task Force’s School Opioid Survey. The task force wants to hear from all on-campus school staff to help understand overdose response readiness and training needs. The survey is anonymous and open until Oct. 16, 2024.
Epinephrine access in schools
DOH issued a new statewide standing order for schools to dispense and administer epinephrine. Epinephrine is commonly used to treat potentially life-threatening allergic reactions.
Protect yourself and others from respiratory illness
- Get vaccinated.
- You can get 2024-25 COVID-19 and flu vaccine now.
- Everyone 6 months and older should get an annual flu and COVID-19 vaccine.
- Older adults are eligible for RSV immunization along with pregnant people, babies, and some toddlers.
- Vaccines are safe and effective. It is safe to get multiple vaccines at the same time.
- It is especially important for people at high risk to get vaccinated.
- You can take other measures to help prevent the spread of respiratory disease:
- Cover your coughs and sneezes.
- Wash your hands often.
- If you are sick, stay home.
