Please help the CTE team in welcoming Denise Mileson to our OSPI family. Denise will be serving as the Project Specialist for the Graduation Reality and Dual skills (GRADS) Program. She will oversee the Enlace partnership grant with the Washington State Department of Health and the Washington State Office of the Attorney General. Denise comes to us from the Kennewick School District, where she served as the GRADS instructor for 27 years. She has been a GRADS curriculum trainer in Washington, an adjunct professor for Columbia Basin College, and a FISH national presenter. Denise received the 2000 Crystal Apple Award for excellence in teaching, and worked from 2011–2014 as a mentor teacher for new teachers. Denise’s close work with Benton Franklin Health Department, including the Enlace grant committee, and grant writing experience, including the Early Achievers and GRADS grants, will help to sustain the support of these programs. She is very excited about continuing this work at the state level.

CTE Month | February 2015
CTE Student Leadership Civic Engagement Day | February 4, 2015
This unique day of active engagement allows student leaders from across Washington to learn about state government and showcase CTE programs while developing their leadership skills. The day begins at the Capitol Building in the State Reception Room with a briefing session on the legislative process, and continues with the students meeting with their respective Senators and Representatives.
CTE Month® is an annual celebration held in February of CTE community members’ achievements and accomplishments nationwide. The CTE community will have the opportunity to tell the stories of leadership and excellence in the classroom and workforce.
There are several ways to become involved:
1. Reach out to students and professionals in your local CTE programs.
2. Communicate about CTE with members of the media.
3. Engage policymakers in your community
4. Spread the word to business and industry leaders.
Find out more details at ACTE.
