Governor Inslee Declares December 3, 2015 Family & Consumer Sciences Day

On December 3, 2015, WAFCS members and families across the state will celebrate the second annual Family & Consumer Sciences Day—the national celebration that educates families about the importance of preparing healthy meals and “dining in” together. Governor Inslee has endorsed “Dining In” for Healthy Families by issuing a statewide proclamation. Read more.

Colville High School

Colville High School Students Build Electric Powered Bike

Jared Lytle and Oliver Benson, both Juniors from Colville High School, built an electric powered bike as part ofther Alternative Energy class. Benson and Lytle began this project over a year-and-a-half ago.

They have clocked more than 100 hours on the project outside of the classroom, Lytle said.

The entire year we took to build it, it was all work it," said a smiling Benson. Read more.


Riverpoint Academy Students

Riverpoint Academy Wins MIT Grant

Riverpoint Academy students, John Becker, Liam Maddox, Whitney Moses and Jared Timme gather at school and share ideas about building a portable generator for refugees.

The school has won a $8,500 award from MIT to design and build the invention.
