Lynnwood
Police Department Continues to Innovate
LYNNWOOD, WA (June
24, 2014) – Lynnwood Police Department (WA) has gone live with
CrimeMapping.com, a nationwide service that allows residents with internet
access to map out and report on incident data near any address in the City.
Now citizens
can stay well informed regarding crime and/or calls for service in their area
which increases the public’s trust in and cooperation with the police. Greater transparency helps strengthen the Department’s
relationship with the people it serves. Residents, workers and visitors can now stay up to date regarding what’s
happening near their home, work office, or child’s school of attendance. |

The Lynnwood Police Department is always looking for ways to innovate. CrimeMapping.com will increase operational efficiencies and help our citizens be more actively connected within their neighborhoods and the City at large.
By entering addresses into CrimeMapping.com,
citizens can access the latest information, which is displayed on a map using
symbols to indicate different types of crimes and/or calls for service.
They can also select crime or call types, date ranges, and a geographic buffer. For example, a local resident concerned about auto theft can display the locations of all such crimes in the past two weeks within a mile of their address. Citizens can generate reports as well as subscribe to the system to receive automatic e-mail updates for any area of their choice.
Transparency helps build trust and the Lynnwood Police Department has taken the necessary steps in helping neighbors look out for each other.
