Transit Alert - Metro's Fall service revisions start Saturday, 9/28, during a very busy Seattle sports weekend
King County, Washington sent this bulletin at 09/27/2013 04:45 PM PDTKing County Metro Transit’s Fall service revisions begin
Saturday, September 28.
Besides Metro’s service change, it will be a very busy weekend
with the Mariners, Sounders, Cougars and Huskies all in town.
Expect traffic and delays around those events.
Fall revisions include schedule and routing adjustments in the
I-90 corridor, the Renton area, the Snoqualmie Valley and the
University District, as well as seasonal adjustments and a few
added trips on some routes in the Seattle area as a result of a
partnership between King County Metro Transit and the City
of Seattle.
In addition to new routes 208, 219, DART 906 and Snoqualmie
Valley Transportation (SVT) service, and discontinued Route 155,
there are mostly minor scheduling or routing revisions to 29 other
routes, in order to continue to operate more efficiently, improve travel
times and better match bus service to ridership. Additionally, Sound
Transit Route 560 will now be operated by Pierce Transit. While it is
still available in the regional Trip Planner, Metro will no longer provide
updates about service revisions or exceptions for this route.
Metro encourages all riders to review and revise their Transit Alert
subscriptions as necessary.
Metro updates its routes and schedules three times a year to improve
service and address the changing needs of transit customers, while
operating within budget. The September 28 revisions come as Metro
continues to prepare for possible service cuts up to 17 percent beginning
in the Fall of 2014, unless a stable source of revenue is identified.
The Fall revisions are available in new red timetables and a Rider Alert
brochure, available on buses and at information racks, or by calling Metro’s
Customer Information phone line at 206-553-3000.
The new timetables are also posted on Metro Online and in Metro’s online
Trip Planner when a date of September 28 or later is used in a query to find
a route, find a stop or plan a trip.
Find out about other transit revisions in the greater Seattle area by visiting
Metro’s transit partners at Community Transit, Everett Transit, Pierce Transit,
Sound Transit and the Washington State Ferries.
Fall is also a busy time for schools, sports, other events and construction
projects that may have impacts on transit service. Metro encourages everyone
to ride transit to and from area events, sign up for Transit Alerts, allow plenty
of time, remember to plan your return trip and always check the online Service
Advisories page before traveling, in order to know if there are any known events
that might affect service.
Thank you for riding and for using Metro’s services.
