“Good afternoon Frost MS Community,

It is an honor that I have the privilege to be introduced as your new Assistant Principal at Frost Middle School.  I am so excited to see each student grow academically, socially, emotionally, which is why I have always chosen to be a middle school educator.  Being able to work with such a caring, knowledgeable, dedicated staff is such a privilege.  I look forward to working in partnership with Mr. Harris, the Frost staff, and community to continue the work and great traditions at Frost middle school.

On a personal note, I am a native to Fairfax County and attended Fox Mill Elementary, Franklin Middle School, and Oakton High School.  I received my undergrade degree from Frostburg State University and my Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from George Mason University.  My wife, Amanda, and I have two amazing children.  Gavin is 9 years old and Lacey is 6.  When not accomplishing their school requirements, we enjoy spending time outdoors.  In addition, I am a life-long Washington Sports Fan.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for twenty four years, all of which have been within Fairfax County Public Schools.  I started this journey at Jermantown Elementary as a Physical Education teacher.  At Rachel Carson Middle School, I spent 6 years as an Health and Physical Education Department Chair and 7 years as an Assistant Principal.  During this time, I worked to build the instructional leadership strength with our staff, with a focus on 21st century skills.  Most of this work has now moved towards the Portrait of a Graduate Skills.  Over the last four years, I have worked at Stone Middle School as an Assistant Principal supporting our focus on student growth and family connection.  I have a strong belief that with true collaboration and team work, we have the ability to create and foster a safe and nurturing learning environment for students and staff.

I am so excited about this opportunity and can’t wait to meet you in the halls.”

Phil Hudson
