The District Department of Transportation and Federal Railroad Administration held a community meeting this week for the Long Bridge Phase II Study, which is looking at the two-track railroad bridge across the Potomac River that serves freight, intercity passenger and commuter rail services.

The meeting was an opportunity to learn about the study and environmental work related to the replacement or rehabilitation of the Long Bridge. Materials from the meeting are available online.

This week the contractor continued working on the westbound side of 18th Street, performing demolition activities for the existing asphalt lane and adjacent concrete curbs and sidewalks.

Initially scheduled for this week but moved to next week because of the cold temperatures, the contractor is preparing to place concrete for the bus bays on the eastbound side of 18th Street and to begin reconstructing the westbound side of the roadway.

Crews are scheduled to work during the holiday on Monday, Feb. 15. Visit project page
