 Transitway Opening Scheduled for Spring 2016
During the past several months, the County and its contractor have been managing several construction and cost challenges for the Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway project. Recent design changes have set the project on a path to completion next spring, while keeping its cost within the approved construction budget.
What construction will look like going forward
Construction activities will continue at all station locations during the winter, as crews install the stations’ roofs, windscreens and real-time information displays. Some activities will be more noticeable than others – we will continue to provide a description of each week’s work in this email update.
County staff and our contractor will continue to look for opportunities to modify closures and detours as elements of the project are completed, while maintaining safety around the work zones as the top priority. Some closures will be reinstated from time to time as additional construction work demands.
We appreciate your continued patience during this work, and are confident that the short-term disruptions will be worth the long-term benefits of improved bus service through Crystal City and Potomac Yard.
