Construction Updates

Crystal City Multimodal Center

This week the reconstruction of 18th Street South resumed. The contractor began the placement of asphalt pavement in the center lanes of the intersection of 18th and Clark Streets as well as on 18th Street just east of South Eads Street. Next week the contractor will continue with the placement of asphalt in these areas of the work zone.

Crystal City Potomac Yard Transitway

Transitway construction activities for Saturday, Nov. 21 through Friday, Nov. 27 are described in this week's construction update. Crews are not scheduled to work on Saturday, Nov. 21. No work is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 26 or Friday, Nov. 27, during the Thanksgiving holiday.

Detours/Lane Closures 

The following lane closures are due to project construction:

Crystal Drive: 

• Between 20th and 23rd Streets - Northbound right lane closed. Access to driveways remains open. 
• From U.S. Route 1 up to 26th Street South - Parking and right lanes closed.

18th Street South:

• Inside lanes on each side of the street are closed between South Eads and Bell Streets. No on-street parking or charter bus parking available in this area.
• Bike lane closed under Route 1 bridge.

South Clark/Bell Streets:

• Traffic at 18th Street intersection limited to right turns only.
• Right lane closed between 20th and 23rd Streets, and between 23rd and 26th Streets.

Route 1: Northbound right turn lane closed between South Glebe Road and Crystal Drive.
