Arlington Ridge Road Ramp Closures This Weekend

From 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, and from 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, the ramp from Route 27 to South Arlington Ridge Road and the ramp from South Arlington Ridge to Route 27 and northbound I-395 will be closed for milling and paving, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

 

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and take alternate routes to minimize impacts. The work is part of a project to repair the South Arlington Ridge Road ramp bridges over I-395 and Army Navy Drive. Visit VDOT's project page for details.

 

Construction Updates

ART Bus Facility

Contaminated and unsuitable soils have been successfully removed from the construction site. Crews have begun on-site utility work and will begin to work on retaining walls and building foundations.

 
Utility work along South Eads Street is scheduled to occur throughout November. Parking along South Eads within the project limits will be restricted for the foreseeable future.

Transitway construction activities for Saturday, Oct. 31 through Friday, Nov. 6 are described in this week's construction update. Crews are not scheduled to work on Saturday, Oct. 31.

Detours/Lane Closures 

The following lane closures are due to project construction:

 

Crystal Drive

  • Between 20th and 23rd Streets - Northbound right lane closed. Access to driveways remains open. 
  • From U.S. Route 1 up to 26th Street South - Parking and right lanes closed.

18th Street South:

  • Inside lanes on each side of the street are closed between South Eads and Bell Streets. No on-street parking or charter bus parking available in this area.
  • Bike lane closed under Route 1 bridge.

South Clark/Bell Streets:

  • Traffic at 18th Street intersection limited to right turns only.
  • Right lane closed between 20th and 23rd Streets, and between 23rd and 26th Streets.

Route 1: Northbound right turn lane closed between South Glebe Road and Crystal Drive.
