Jonathan Faircloth served as an aerial observer in the U.S. Marine Corps with HMH-363 and deployed to Iraq in 2008 and Afghanistan in 2010.

Jonathan died when the CH-53D Sea Stallion helicopter he was in crashed during routine flight training in 2011 near Marine Corps Base Hawaii. He was 22 years old.
