  • Federal Partners in Transition (FPT): New resource. The 2020 Federal Youth Transition Plan: A Federal Interagency Strategy. American Indian/Alaska Native Health

Events

  • HHS/Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), in partnership with the Veterans Administration, the Social Security Administration, and the Indian Health Service (IHS): ITU Training Center. Provides training to patient benefits advocates on the programs and benefits available through Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Health Insurance Marketplace.   • Capacity Building Assistance Provider Network (CPN) and HealtheKnockledge: Online course. Introduction to Grant WritingDuring this pilot phase, CPN are looking for participants with grant writing experience as well as novice grant writers to complete the course and provide valuable feedback to help identify areas of the course for improvement. Clinical Trials

  • HHS/NIH, National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI): ClinSeq - A Large-Scale Medical Sequencing Clinical Research Pilot Study (Study 07-HG-0002). NIH researchers are seeking African American, African, or Afro-Caribbeans study participants. Trial will be conducted at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Learn more.
  • HHS/NIH, National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH): Brain Response to Pain Control in People with Chronic Pain (Study 13-AT-0143). NCCIH seeks people with fibromyalgia to participate in an MRI study exploring how the brain responds to pain. Trial will be conducted at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. Learn more.  

Cultural Competence and CLAS

  • National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN): Certification program. National Certification for Bilingual Healthcare Providers - Medical Spanish Exam & Medical Spanish Course. This exam assesses the ability for an individual to communicate directly with Hispanic patients in a clinical setting without the use of an interpreter. Learn more

  • HHS/OMH: New resource. OMH Hispanic Health Data Brief: Demographic Characteristics and Health Behaviors among a Diverse Group of Adult Hispanic/Latino Males (Ages 18 to 64 years) in the United States. Musculoskeletal Diseases

Scleroderma, or systemic sclerosis, is a chronic connective tissue disease classified as one of the autoimmune rheumatic diseases. Promoting Health Families and Communities for Boys and Young Men of Color is a paper that outlines the developmental challenges and health risks of boys and men of color due to lack of resources. The paper also identifies societal, institutional, and community changes that could provide the support needed to close these gaps.
