National Apprenticeship Week

 

The White House has announced that the President will proclaim the week of November 2nd as National Apprenticeship Week (NAW).  NAW will offer employers, industry associations, labor, education providers, elected officials and other critical partners the opportunity to showcase how Registered Apprenticeship meets their needs for a skilled workforce. What NIST MEP is Reading

The Myth and the Reality of Manufacturing in America (June 2015):

 

The production and shipment of goods in the United States is a large, important, and growing part of the economy. Despite the continued growth and long-term health of manufacturing, significant misconceptions remain about the sector’s demand for labor and how it has changed in recent decades. In a recent report from Ball State University’s Center for Business and Economic Research, they identify and explain a major source of misunderstanding in manufacturing. The first section of the report focuses on what effects productivity change, domestic demand, and foreign trade has on U.S. manufacturing employment.

CMTC and MANEX Activities

As the founding members of the California statewide Innovation HUB, CNMI, participated in a Smart Manufacturing Conference held on October 15th at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.  The event promoted the benefits of smart technologies to the manufacturing, economic development and academic communities in California.  Panel discussions included topics such as: how smart manufacturing can impact your business, how it affects the supply chain, what smart technologies can be applied today and what type of workforce will be required to implement smart manufacturing. Panel and Keynote presentation can be found on the CNMI website within the next week.


MMTC and Manufacturing Day

In honor of Manufacturing Day 2015, the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center (MMTC) hosted the Proud to Manufacture Conference on September 23-24. More than 225 guests, representing 135 unique companies, attended the conference. With support from more than 25 sponsors and 48 exhibitors, Michigan manufacturers were brought together under one roof to touch on the industry’s most relevant topics. Guests had the opportunity to hear a personalized video message from Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, as well as learn about new prospects and workforce trends, advances in supply chain management, the power of innovation for growth, and the future of manufacturing.

Marketing and Communications Working Group Kickoff Webinar
