Several mind and body approaches, including relaxation techniques, yoga,
tai chi, and meditation may be useful for managing symptoms of stress
in your patients. For some stress-related conditions, mind and body
approaches are used as an adjunct to other forms of treatment. This
issue of the digest provides a summary of current evidence on some of
these practices for stress and stress-related conditions.

This past fall, Claire M. Fraser, Ph.D., gave the annual NIH Rolla E.
Dyer Lecture, which honors one of NIH’s past directors by featuring an
internationally renowned researcher who has contributed substantially to
the medical and biological knowledge of infectious diseases.

Resources for Researchers
The council meets three times per year and is charged with advising,
consulting with, and making recommendations to the Center’s director on
matters relating to NCCIH’s research activities and functions. Part of
its role is the secondary review, in a closed session, of grant
applications in light of NCCIH research priorities and program balance.
