No matter your size or fitness level, this time of year is ideal for getting into the game—and getting healthier. Celebrate Men’s Health Month this June by improving your habits or helping the men in your life improve theirs. Try these tips from WIN to consume healthier foods and beverages, move more, and get to and stay at a healthy weight:

heart

Do aerobic activities. Aim for 30 minutes a day on most days of the week. Options include brisk walking, playing basketball, and bicycling.

bicep flex

Build muscle strength. Try weight training or working with resistance bands.

water bottle

Stay hydrated. Drink water and other unsweetened, calorie-free beverages. Sodas, sports drinks, and juices may be high in caffeine or calories, especially from sugar.

bell pepper

Eat fruits and veggies. Add berries to your cereal or crunchy vegetables to your sandwich.

Do not overdo it with alcohol. Alcohol can be a major source of hidden calories. A single shot of liquor, about 2 ounces, has about 125 calories. A 5-ounce glass of wine or a 12-ounce glass of beer has about 160 calories.

Get support. Ask friends or family members to join you in eating healthier and being more active. Healthy choices become easier when everyone is working toward similar goals.
