April is National Minority Health Month
Many racial and ethnic minority populations, including African Americans, Hispanics and Latinos, American Indians and Alaska Natives, and Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, are disproportionately affected by diabetes. Use NDEP resources tailored for minority populations to raise awareness of diabetes in your community.

Foot Health Awareness Month: Diabetes & Your Feet
April is also Foot Health Awareness Month. Share NDEP’s Take Care of Your Feet for a Lifetime brochure for tips to help people take care of their feet and prevent serious foot problems.

NDEP Call for Nominations: Practice Transformation Task Group
The NDEP is seeking experienced volunteers to guide content review, maintenance, expansion, and promotion of NDEP’s Practice Transformation for Physicians and Health Care Teams, a web resource designed to help health care professionals and administrators change systems of health care delivery around diabetes. Please view the NDEP Practice Transformation Task Group call for nominations to learn more about this group. To submit a nomination or self-nomination, please send a recent bio or CV and a statement of interest that details how the nominee could contribute to an evaluation of the usefulness of the website among primary care teams; and the ability of the nominee to promote the website to primary care teams to Joanne_Gallivan@nih.gov by April 21, 2014.

NDEP's Diabetes HealthSense online tool can help you find resources to support people in making changes to live well – whether they have diabetes or not. For example, find videos featuring NDEP patient volunteers and experts talking about preventing and managing diabetes.
