In May 1910, the Tacoma Times (Tacoma, WA) took note of the passage of the Earth through the tail of Halley's Comet, estimated to be over 1 million miles wide. According to the Times, the Earth would be moving at over 3000 miles per hour accompanied by "illumination of the western sky with a possible meteoric display."...
