International Buyer Program: DistribuTECH

January 28-30, 2014 – San Antonio, TX

U.S. - Colombia Smart Grid Workshop
February 11-12, 2014 - Bogotá, Colombia

The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) is sponsoring a two-day workshop to foster U.S. – Colombian partnerships for state-of-the-art electricity transmission and distribution projects throughout the country in cooperation with Colombia Inteligente (Smart Colombia), an industry coalition established to coordinate the implementation of smart grid technology. The event will highlight Colombia’s smart grid projects and initiatives, U.S. technologies and the regulatory frameworks, standards, and financing mechanisms available to support them. The workshop agenda will also focus on the applicability of demand response programs in Colombia. 

 

Vietnam Wind Power Workshop

February 20, 2014 - Ho Chi Minh City

This workshop is co-organized by U.S. Commercial Service (USCS) and Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT), aiming to leverage U.S. technologies, expertise and  financing advantages to develop wind power in Vietnam and create a foundation for a long-term  cooperation between the United States and Vietnam in energy.

 

World Smart Energy Week

February 26-28, 2014 - Tokyo, Japan

World Smart Energy Week, certified under the U.S. Department of Commerce Trade Fair Certification Program, is focused on renewable energy such as: wind power generation, photovoltaic (PV) power generation, PV systems, and processing technologies; advanced technologies such as fuel cells and rechargeable batteries; energy efficiency solutions such as smart grid; and eco-houses and eco-buildings.

Mexico WindPower 2014
February 26-27, 2014 - Mexico City, Mexico 

This leading conference and showcase focusing on the wind energy sector and policy in Mexico has a direct impact on the planning, organization and operation of Mexico's National Wind Energy program. This forum brings together the main participants in the renewable energy industry including manufacturers, developers, regulators, researchers and suppliers of financial and technical services. A top-level conference and exposition, this event will enhance the discussion on the national agenda for the development of Mexico’s wind potential. All interested parties are invited to participate.


Trade Mission to the Middle East

March 8-14, 2014 - UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar

Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker will lead an Infrastructure Business Development Mission to the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Qatar that will highlight infrastructure export opportunities for U.S. businesses including  renewable energy (solar, wind, waste-to-energy), smart grid and energy efficiency. The application deadline is January 17, 2014.


Macau International Environmental Cooperation Forum and Exhibition March 27-29, 2014 - Macau, China

The 7th edition of the Macau International Environmental Co-operation Forum and Exhibition (MIECF) is the only international trade show for the environmental industry in Macau.  The 2014 show will be held at the Venetian Hotel from 27th to 29th of March with “Energizing Green Business Growth” as its theme.  A series of activities, including forum, exhibition, business matching services and networking events, will take place in the 3-day period.  We would encourage U.S. companies having offices in Asia to attend.  The organizer will likely provide an attractive incentive package (including complimentary hotel accommodation) for exhibitors at the show.  Please contact Senior Commercial Specialist Olevia Yim in Hong Kong via email olevia.yim@trade.gov if you have an initial interest in participating in this event.

OPIC Finances Chile Hydro Plant

A 531 MW run-of-river hydroelectric power plant to be built in Chile received a structured project finance loan from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC). The power plant will be a key generation facility for Santiago and reduce electricity costs, as well as greenhouse gas emissions, in a country that has become increasingly reliant on coal and diesel generation plants. DOE tax credits for clean energy manufacturing

Building on President Obama’s Climate Action Plan to continue America’s leadership in clean energy innovation, the U.S. Department of Energy announced $150 million in clean energy tax credits for 12 businesses to build U.S. capabilities in clean energy manufacturing. The awards will support thousands of new manufacturing jobs in nine states and dozens of supply chains throughout the United States. [December 2013]
