The first-ever SelectUSA 2013 Investment Summit on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in Washington, D.C

Dear Friends:

I am delighted to have joined SelectUSA as its new Executive Director. The idea that I could help in this truly worthwhile initiative has been inspirational. I hope that my 31 years of private sector experience and time as U.S. Ambassador to Belize will serve me well in this endeavor. I very much look forward to working with you to help promote investment in the United States, both domestic and foreign.

I am particularly excited about the SelectUSA Investment Summit. The first-ever SelectUSA 2013 Investment Summit on October 31 and November 1 here in Washington, D.C, is now two months away! We’re very pleased on how the Summit is coming together and wanted to give you the latest updates on the event.

A few weeks back, the Department of Commerce announced that four of President Obama’s cabinet members will be participating: Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker, Secretary of State John Kerry, Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew, and U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman. Secretary Pritzker also recently announced an exciting lineup of six corporate chief executive officers will be speaking at the Summit, including: Laurence Fink of BlackRock, Daniel Doctoroff of Bloomberg L.P., Douglas Oberhelman of Caterpillar, Inc., Andrew Liveris of Dow Chemical Company, Eric Spiegel of Siemens Corporation and William (Bill) Simon of Walmart U.S.

We can also report that economic development organizations (EDOs) in 42 states plus the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico will be joining us at the Summit. As a central feature of registering for the summit, participating domestic and international corporate representatives and investors will have unique networking opportunities and one-on-one meetings with EDOs showcasing their development and investment projects. There will also be insightful presentations and in-depth discussions on topics such as advanced manufacturing, the U.S. energy sector, the U.S. market landscape, and capital availability in the United States. Summit attendees will also obtain information about investment-related resources available at the Federal, state and local levels.

As Secretary Pritzker said in her recently-released video, please join us at what promises to be an outstanding SelectUSA 2013 Investment Summit. To pre-register, please visit www.selectusasummit.com. Registration closes on September 30, so pleases sign up now.

We look forward to seeing you in Washington, D.C. on October 31!

Sincerely,

Vinai Thummalapally
