Senate amendment to H.J. Res. 59 - Continuing Appropriations Resolution, 2014 

H.R. 3695 - To provide a temporary extension of the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008

Bill Summary

Senate amendment to H.J. Res. 59: This legislation sets overall discretionary spending for the current fiscal year at $1.012 trillion. The agreement would provide $63 billion in sequester relief over two years, split evenly between defense and non-defense programs. In fiscal year 2014, defense discretionary spending would be set at $520.5 billion, and non-defense discretionary spending would be set at $491.8 billion.

This package also includes a provision that averts Medicare physician payment cuts as Congress continues to work on a replacement of the flawed SGR formula. 

H.R. 3695: This bill provides a 30-day extension to the farm bill.  

Type of Rule

The rule makes in order a motion offered by the chair of the Committee on the Budget or his designee that the House recede from its amendment and concur in the Senate amendment with the amendment printed in part A of the Rules Committee report as modified by the amendment printed in part B of that report. The rule also provides a a closed rule for H.R. 3695. Reported by a vote of 9 yeas to 3 nays.
