Why is the Summer Meals Program
So Important?
The Summer Food
Service Program (SFSP) is a federally funded program administered
by the States. It was created to fill the meal gap when school is not in session.
Currently, 22 million children and teens
receive free and reduced-priced meals through the National School Lunch
Program, but only 3.8 million young people participate in summer meal
programs.
