Secretary Duncan to Announce U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools; District and Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees

Postsecondary Institutions Honored for the First Time 

 

U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and Managing Director of the White House Council of Environmental Quality Christy Goldfuss will announce via video posted on YouTube at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 22 the 2015 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools (ED-GRS), District Sustainability Awardees, and first-ever Postsecondary Sustainability Awardees.

Fifty-eight schools, 14 school districts and nine postsecondary institutions are being honored this year.  The ED-GRS schools, districts, and postsecondary institutions are being recognized for reducing their environmental impact, including energy use, waste and water; creating healthy learning environments and fostering wellness practices; and providing effective environmental education that prepares students to succeed in the 21st century.
