Event Background

The 2015 Transit Construction & Streetcar/Bus Circulator Workshop will bring together project developers, engineers and construction managers from transit agencies to discuss methods to improve the implementation of major transit projects.  Additionally, the workshop will provide a forum for sharing ideas, challenges, and the best practices in the delivery of streetcar and bus circulator projects.

In the past, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) hosted the Transit Construction Roundtable and the Streetcar/ Bus Circulator Roundtable as separate events, last held in 2012. FTA is combining both these forums into one event in 2015 to facilitate sharing of information between the delivery of streetcar/bus circulator projects and the delivery of major capital projects.

Day 1 will consist of an overview, FTA Updates, presentations on lessons learned, and tours of the Portland-Milwaukee Light Rail and Portland Streetcar projects. The morning of Day 2 will consist of breakout sessions focusing on how operators of streetcar and bus circulators can benefit from the experiences of project managers and construction managers from transit agencies implementing major capital projects and the types of technical assistance that FTA can provide. During the afternoon of Day 2 as well as on Day 3, the streetcar/bus circulator participants and the major construction projects participants will separate into their respective groups to have table discussions and share challenges, best practices and lessons learned regarding their specific projects.

FTA looks forward to your involvement and sharing your knowledge.

All travel and per diem expenses, including meals, for persons attending the workshop must be paid by their agencies.
