In the week ending April 5, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 300,000, a decrease of 32,000 from the previous week's revised level. The last time initial claims were this low was May 12, 2007 when they were 297,000.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Mine Safety and Health Administration today released preliminary data for calendar year 2013, updating the “Mine Safety and Health at a Glance” page. The charts include information on inspections; violations; number of mines and miners; and fatality and injury rates for coal, metal and nonmetal, and all mining.
