This position is located in the Department of Labor (DOL), Employment and Training Administration (ETA), Office of Foreign Labor Certification (OFLC) in Chicago, IL. The OFLC provides national leadership and policy guidance to carry out the responsibilities of the Secretary of Labor under the Immigration and Nationality Act, as amended, concerning foreign nationals seeking admission to the United States in order to work. The OFLC issues labor certifications for permanent and temporary employment that permits U.S. employers to hire foreign workers, temporarily and permanently to fill jobs essential to the U.S. economy when there are not sufficient workers who are able, willing, qualified, and available to perform the job. The position functions as an expert in various aspects of Immigration Law to include processing a working knowledge of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) and the temporary non-immigrant employment-based programs administered by OFLC. The incumbent of this position serves as a team leader for a group of federal employees, and as a senior technical expert. As a team leader, they provide coaching and guidance to team members, coordinating and monitoring team work, advising higher level officials on those activities, and performing other team oriented responsibilities; as a technical expert, the incumbent provides professional guidance and assistance concerning the agency's technical related activities. - This position is inside the bargaining unit. - Relocation costs will not be paid.
