For more information about DOL's mission, activities, and careers, please visit our website at: http://www.dol.gov/ . The Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. The program lasts for 1 year. Recent Graduates may be converted to a permanent position (or, in some limited circumstances a term appointment lasting 1-4 years) after completion of the 1 year period. To be eligible for conversion, Recent Graduates must have: successfully completed at least 1 year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the Program; demonstrated successful job performance; and met the qualifications for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted. These positions are with DOL's Wage and Hour Division, District Office, in Charleston and Greenville, SC. The WHD enforces Federal minimum wage, overtime pay, recordkeeping, and child labor requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act. WHD also enforces the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, the Employee Polygraph Protection Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, wage garnishment provisions of the Consumer Credit Protection Act, and a number of employment standards and worker protections as provided in several immigration related statutes.
