A.                AETC Media Queries: 

 

1.  INQUIRY FROM DAVE MAJUMDAR, DEFENSE NEWS:  Defense News reporter, Dave Majumdar, asked yesterday (Aug. 2) about an update to the T-X process and was told that the Analysis of Alternatives was completed and presented to the Air Force Requirements Oversight Council in March and then to the Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation in June for a sufficiency review. When that's completed the AoA will go to the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics board before determining the way ahead for the T-X trainer. PA expect balanced coverage.

 

2.  AFT MEDIA QUERY:  Air Force Times Reporter Markeshia Ricks asked about the Ethics training given at Vandenberg AFB. She was told the training had been suspended as of July 27 and was being reviewed. The training, which discusses Just War Theory, uses several Biblical examples and is given to about 150 students per year. Expect balanced to negative coverage.

 

3.  NUCLEAR ETHICS BRIEFING INTERVIEWS:  Reporters Todd Starnes, Fox News Radio (New York) and Jennifer Rizzo, CNN Situation Room (Washington, D.C.), asked today (Aug. 3) for interviews to discuss the nuclear ethics briefing formerly presented during initial orientation at the 381st Training Group for missile launch officers at Vandenberg AFB. PA provided responses to questions from prepared talking points. PA anticipates balanced coverage today and tomorrow.

MEDIA REPORTS ON SPECIAL OPERATIONS WING RESCUE:  Reporter Christie Ileto, KOAT-TV 7 (ABC-Albuquerque) interviewed mission pilot, Maj. Ryan Kay on the recovery of a lost hiker, yesterday (Aug. 2). The hiker, who had been missing in a remote area near Pogosa Springs, Colorado for three days, was rescued by a 58th Special Operations Wing crew Monday (Aug. 1). The story received positive coverage.

PUPPY FOSTERING INTERVIEW:  Military Working Dog puppy fostering program managers, Jimmy Dalton and David Garcia, along with a puppy, appeared today (Aug. 3) on KABB-TV 29  (Fox-San Antonio). The fostering team discussed the fostering program and how important public participation is for the success of the military working dog breeding program. The breeding program introduces approximately 100 dogs a year to the school and each dog requires a foster family to raise it until it is ready to begin training. Positive media coverage.

Todd Small, Air Force Space Command command chief, and Warrant Officer of the Canadian Air Force Miles Barham today (Aug. 3). The interview focused on the week-long Air Force Senior Enlisted Leader Summit being held at the Air Force Senior NCO Academy here and the importance of inviting Partner Nation enlisted members to the summit. PA anticipates balanced coverage today.

Captain Williams talked about growing up in Oklahoma, his decision to join the Air Force and what his job entails. Positive media coverage.
