Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel welcomes Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson to the Pentagon, March 21, 2014. The two leaders discussed mutual interests between the two departments. Johnson was the Defense Department's general counsel before his current position.

A U.S. Army Special Forces soldier provides security during a clearing operation in Denasaro Kelay village in the Mizan district of Zabul province, Afghanistan, March 8, 2014. The soldiers, assigned to Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force Afghanistan, assisted Afghan commandos with efforts to disrupt insurgent movement in the area.
