Hagel Discusses Security Issues With Israeli Counterpart

WASHINGTON, Aug. 21, 2013 - Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel today spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon to discuss a number of regional security issues, Pentagon Press Secretary George Little said.

"The call touched upon the ongoing violence in Syria -- including the recent claims of use of chemical weapons -- the situation in Egypt, and Iran," Little said in a statement summarizing the conversation.

Hagel and Yaalon agreed to continue to maintain intensive dialogue on the multitude of challenges facing the United States and Israel, he added.
