Readout of Secretary of Defense Ash Carter's Meeting with Tunisian President Caid Essebsi Today, Secretary Carter met with Tunisian President Caid Essebsi at the Pentagon to discuss U.S.-Tunisian defense partnership, Tunisia's security situation, and counterterrorism assistance. The two leaders discussed the importance of their nation's growing partnership. Secretary Carter encouraged President Essebsi to continue the Tunisian military's deeper relationship with the United States. Both leaders stated that they look forward to working together more in the future.
